Popped out last night for a quick and quiet drink to relax ourselves after busy day of cabin-fever inducing revision/essay writing. Who should walk in to the bar but the Newcastle Falcons rugby team...in fancy dress clearly on a end of season outting!! had a chat with Colin Charvis (well as much as you can when he had a parrot on his shoulder)...whom i recognised but he was the only one! however just Googled him now and didnt realise he was the welsh and falcons captain!! he didnt really seem too keen on the camera-so i took a picture of rach instead!! also had a hug from a slightly intoxicated scary uncle style Owen Finnigan! it pays to be spontaneous!! not to mention the fact that kevin and sam from the recently delightful tv programme shipwreaked were there altho not surprisingly surrounded by skinny screaming blondes!! what an eventful evening.

Breaks Co-op

Went to see Breaks Co-op at Carling Academy last nite...they're a band started up by Zane Lowe and another Kiwi awhile ago but now with more people...was very good actually, quite chilled but also good beats. zane wasnt there tho which was a bit annoying but never mind. Zero 7 are playing at Carling in June so will hopefully get to see them then as end of term extravaganza!!!

Realised had been a very long time since last wrote anything and as I am finding new and innovative new ways to avoid doing any work... I thought I'd make a new post...not really sure why I bother anyways as noone really reads it, but hey if it entertains me for a while then why not!!

Just read your blog Joe and the whole 'Creationists-are-stupid' argument has been annoying me greatly for quite a while now, since it was in the uni paper, on the tele etc etc. dont know why people would much rather believe we are monkeys than we are planned by an amazing God...although right this minute i'd appreciate it if God would just uncreate wasps. there have been increasing attacks in the last few days and i have just been personally targetted by an unnaturally large one who drove me from my room. it has since been removed by the brave and helpful alice but as a result of such fear on my life i have shut the window...it is very hot in my room as is actually being summery in may.

anyhoo that's it really...had best do something productive.

Arggh m'hearties!! Flat mate Rach's birthday yesterday so in true 35D style we had a Pirate related party!! was a lot of fun and many buckaneers attended...some more Smee than Johnney Depp!! (Rach is the one with the palm tree!!)

WELL...have just had the best night ever! got tickets to an impromtu Zane Lowe set at World Headquarters... he was brilliant, played awesome music for about 3 hours!! dead energetic and good at the old scratchy mixing stuff!! he was a top bloke too and wandered around after his set even said thanks for coming down to me...as if I wouldn't have gone! what a legend!! the guy that followed him was brilliant too and reminded me of an older fat chix!! see what you think!! Laura one of my friends who I went with...was a bona fide Zane Lowe groupie and took some brilliant if not numerous photos!! she did get a free JD and coke out of it from Chix-look-a-like tho!!

...I have had a very busy few days it feels with getting up and working everyday and never seeming to get through it all!! Have finished one essay and successfully blagged a presentation only to think about starting my next essay. shouldnt complain as not in lectures much but do feel like am constantly wading through work at the moment. Anyhoo, had a marvellous few days with petite soeur last week...we went to pictures to see Chicken Little which is h'actually hilarious!! was good just chilling out and teaching her the way of the student (in a civilised girls' flat!).
I'm currently freezing but not having any snow which is a minor frustration...aussi, dans le moment, je ecoute au 'France Culture' dans le radio a la mon ordiateur. malheursement je ne comprends pas qui ils disent!! O la la!! rubbish French but you get the jist!

I am once again heading south for summer!! so excited...going with two of my flat mates to Australia for 6weeks in June!! in fact the trip will be Singapore - Bali - Australia - Hong Kong !! can't wait!! :-) I figure it's possible work experience for a career in Travel Journalism!!

Well...had a fantastic weekend with the lovely Broughton's for Fake Cousin Naomi's 21st!! was so great to be in a homely home and looked after...also was brilliant to catch up with mother father and the little one! was strange to see them come to the party and then go! anyway this semester is very short and i have been told to prepare myself for a visit by the sweaty betty in the near future. have lots of plans a-brewing for such an event...mainly involving eating!

Went out last nite to celebrate doing my last exam and also for Laura downstairs' birthday dressed as Cowboys and Indians!! was definately a lot of fun and everyone looked great! will do this one again sometime i think!

havent really been bothered to update blog for a while but thought would do it today!! firstly...i am so over this exam business! have had a rough deal in my opinion by having an exam on the 2nd to last day of the whole exam period as well as the week before the official period even started. not only that but everyone else, except me and laura, has finished already or finishes tomorrow. i am sick of having them hanging over me and altho i only had 2 exams and a listening test...it's been one a week and everything feels so dragged out...especially as i havent done much inbetween cos always feel i should be revising or other people are revising! some people have a full week off or more before go back to lectures...would have been able to do something or go home or something. o well. have weds afternoon til sunday off. now have found out have to read "jude the obscure" before the 1st feb instead of short poetry because the lecture order has changed last minute. i'm just looking at it now and thats a hefty book.

anyways!! hasnt been all that bad...just getting bit frustrated at having the exams and stuff STILL not finished.

me and rach from my flat decided we wanted a bit of a change from cheese and "RnB" and so went to a drum and bass night at the union last nite!! (was Dillinja and Lemon D as well as Craggz and Parallel and Phobia which means something to joe i'm sure!) we niavely didnt fully realise how hardcore it was going to be...was mighty hilarious queueing up with a load of hoody wearing/ dread locked geordies!! was a good laugh tho and we danced like loons for a change altho we could h'actually feel the sound waves!! fortunately our free ear protectors kept us sane...altho we must have looked ridiculous trying to talk to each other with those things in, both of us agreeing to what the other person had said in a smile-and-nod-i-havent-a-clue kinda way! was definately very sweaty and hardcore but a lot of fun...we both had to cark it at about 1.30am and go home as we couldnt take it any longer and definately couldnt last til 3am!! perhaps some less intense drum and bass next time!! interesting to watch the sercurity frisk a guy for his weed while me and rach were having a moment to recover in the relative quite! and then we were asked to move as security started flooding in to filter out a group of suspicious characters!! most exciting!!

Went to show our 6th member around our new house for next year, yesterday! was great to see it again as had forgotten how fab it is! cant wait to move...will be brilliant to be with the people get on with and have sofas, big bedroom with double bed, washing machine etc! incidently here is a pic of the 5 of us who will be living together when we went out last week...Jane isnt there but is no 6.

Saw narnia last nite too...AMAZING!!! Definately looking forward to seeing it again on Christmas Eve family styley! is so exactly as remember it in the original and Lucy has to be the most adorable little kid ever! Witch not as scary as remember tho.

Had our Block 35 Christmas Dinner last nite curteousy of the amazing Flat B who organised, prepared and hosted a fantabulous meal. Was very christmassy and family-ish and we were all very excited by the parnsips and real homemade stuffing!! here is a picture of my plate!! in case you werent sure of what christmas dinner looked like...note the plastic plates! Shame have to get on with a Wordsworth/Coleridge essay now followed by one on Twelfth Night. ho hum

Highlight of the day ... full on roast dinner for £4.95!! Roast chicken, tatties (unfortunately not roasties; sorely missed), yorkshire pud and redeeming feature were the roasted parsnips!! Spot on and about time too!

Have spent the afternoon on the outdoor ice rink in town for steph's birthday...was so much fun and very christmassy!! altho the rink was pretty small and full of kids skating against the general flow of traffic which caused some near death moments! if it had been snowing it would've been perfect but was very much fun...and i didnt fall over, break anything or have any kind of incident! h'actually would have been proficient if it wasnt for everyone else on the rink!

no need to worry...only was a bit sore for a few days but had a minor incident when filling my hot water bottle with a rather full kettle of freshly boiled water! oops. all is well now!! and hasnt blistered as held it under freezing water for a long long time!

I am now a Newcastle Falcons fan!! went to the rugby today with Kerry and laura and had a brilliant time considering it didnt stop raining and we were in the only stand without a cover! Johnny wasnt playing but Laurence was in the Wasp team...who lost!! was much like a mud bath tho so surprised they held the ball at all! o forgot to mention watched Bride and Prejudice the other night...is hilarious and so incredibly cheesy. is exactly the Austen but with random bollywood dances and eunuchs!

Midsummer Nights Dream

Went to see the Royal Shakespeare Company perform Midsummer Nights Dream last night...was actually laugh out loud funny. Has to be said cheap seats are not all they're cracked up to be as had to perch on edge of seat, dangling myself over the balcony, battling with the huge light in front of me in order to make out what the ant-people were doing on stage! Good job I dont suffer from vertigo!
